What’s the most career-defining thing that’s happened since you won?
Winning #32under32 two years ago was a great accomplishment. I’ve been working at ShineBox still as an Art Director. Since then I’ve brought in more responsibility in the form of leadership roles with bigger projects. It brightened the spotlight I had within the community to showcase all the valuable work I provide for the team.
We’re so honored! What advice do you have for the upcoming class?
Do as much as you can, when you can! Take a leap of faith into something that scares you. Volunteer in areas your passionate in.
As a creative, how do you approach the networking environment?
Typically I’m a bit more reserved. Find peer groups where you can establish a professional report. These people are in the same boat as you.
Speaking of boats, some of our readers are trying to build their own. What advice or tools do you have for keeping afloat?
Staying organized and being timely. Sometimes it’s easier to sit down, put pen to paper and avoid the collaborative brainstorm type environment.
Fantastic. What’s the best conversation you’ve had at a networking event?
There’s not necessarily a single moment. But there is a fun game in finding out who knows who, and how you can dive deeper into that.
